5 years old girl was sexually abused by a drop out boy,14 years. He only one child in his family lives with mother only. He uses his mobile for long time and watching porn videos. In October, 2025 the boy was gave her a chocolate and took to his home. He abused and threatened her. The girl was suffered and admitted in hospital. Doctor found that she was abused. A2J Project Volunteer have visited her along with Staff member in hospital and counselled her mother. There was provided food and refreshment for the child and mother by our team member. We followed with CWC and case filed under JJB. The Probation Officer Mr. Prabhu, has dealing this case and readmitted him in another school. CWC has supported interim amount 5000 to the girl's family. This village Kavulpalayam is one of hot spot for child marriage. The victim’s relatives were chased the boy’s family from the village and the family lives in another location. MEERA FOUNDATION repeatedly organises events in different strategies by involved volunteer, survivors, key persons, teachers, local NGOs, etc. We discussed with DCPO to sensitize village level child protection committee to look on this issue seriously.

MEERA Foundation’s A2J (Access to Justice) Project intervened in a critical child marriage case in Kavulpalayam (one of hot spot for child marriage), Perambalur District. A 14 year old girl had been married to a 27 year old man at a temple. (A2J Team has contact with DM for placing Board at Temple) Our community volunteer, Mrs. Gokila, immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and alerted Child Helpline 1098. Acting swiftly, the Child Helpline Team visited the girl’s home along with government officials. Their verification confirmed that the girl was a victim of early and illegal marriage. Understanding the urgency, the MEERA A2J Team facilitated coordination with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the Police Department to ensure the case proceeded through the proper legal mechanisms. As a result, an FIR was filed at the Perambalur Police Station against the adult involved. This action not only upheld the law but also sent a strong message to discourage future child marriages in the community. The girl was safely restored to her family and provided emotional support and monitoring. With consistent follow-up visits, the A2J team ensured her protection and well-being. Today, she is back in school, continuing her education with confidence and hope. Recently, our team further supported the family by motivating them to apply for relevant government welfare schemes, improving their socio-economic stability and reducing vulnerabilities that often lead to child marriage. This case stands as a strong example of community vigilance, responsive systems, and collaborative action. Through timely intervention and continued support, MEERA Foundation has helped this young girl reclaim her childhood, her dignity, and her right to education.
