Founded in 2000, MEERA FOUNDATION focuses on protecting children and empowering women through rights-based, community-driven development initiatives. The organization works across Child protection, Immunization, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS, TB control, Water and Sanitation, Reproductive Health & Rights, Cancer Intervention, Education, Nature Health, Mental Health, Menstrual Health and Family Welfare. MEERA adopts inclusive and sustainable approaches that strengthen families and community institutions. Guided by values of equality, integrity, and compassion, the foundation collaborates with government departments, networks, and international partners. Over the years, MEERA FOUNDATION has impacted thousands of vulnerable children, adolescents, and women. Its programs promote dignity, resilience, and long-term social change across Madurai, Dindigul, and Perambalur districts of Tamil Nadu.

Women and Adolescent Empowerment Initiative

This activity focused on life skills, health education, and leadership development for women and adolescent girls. Community groups and schools served as key platforms. Sessions addressed health, rights, and decision-making skills. Parents and community leaders were involved to ensure sustainability. The initiative improved confidence and awareness among participants. Local networks were strengthened. Conducted in multiple rural communities.

TB and HIV Rights Awareness Program

The organization conducted awareness and rights-based advocacy programs for TB and HIV-affected individuals. Activities included community meetings, counseling sessions, and referrals to public health systems. Special focus was placed on stigma reduction and treatment adherence. Women and adolescents were actively engaged through peer education. The initiative strengthened linkages with health departments. Improved access to care was reported. Implemented in Madurai and Dindigul districts.

Child Protection and Rescue Intervention

Meera Foundation implemented district-level child protection interventions focusing on identifying, rescuing, and rehabilitating children from labour and early marriage. The initiative worked closely with government departments, schools, and community leaders. Children were connected to education, counseling, and family support services. Community vigilance mechanisms were strengthened to prevent repeat violations. Awareness sessions increased reporting of child rights violations. The program improved coordination among stakeholders. Implemented across Perambalur district.
